Part of the fun with a Postcard Exchange is always receiving physical mail. And while so much is virtual this year, our teachers are getting creative and finding ways to send, receive, and share physical postcards.
One of the most common ideas I've heard is having the class design a postcard in Google Classroom. Then the teacher prints them on blank postcards or has them printed from somewhere like Vistaprint or Avery.

Several years ago, I printed my own postcards at home using these blank postcards I found on Amazon. This worked well because I was able to print the design on the front and the letter on the back. Be sure to check out this post that includes information on printing your own postcards.
This year, one of our fourth grade teachers from Illinois created a virtual map to share incoming postcards with her class. When you click on a state, it brings you to a page with scanned images of the front and back of the postcard. She shared her map and a template to create your own with our Facebook group. If you are not on Facebook and would like the links, please just shoot me an email!
This virtual map allows students to see the postcards their class has received by clicking on a state. |
After clicking on a state on the map, students are brought to a page with scanned images of the front and back of the postcard. |
I would love to hear what you are doing with your class this year if you are fully virtual!
